Pontiac Repair: 2.2 lopes at idle, throttle position sensor, s10 pickup

Question
I have a 96 S10 pickup that has a fast lope at idle,I've checked the map,the iac,tps,I was wondering if this is a common problem on the 2.2?

Answer
Hi Ronnie:

No not really but if the engine has a vacuum leak or someone messed with the idle stop screw this will be the end result. with out the use of a scan tool it's hard to say what the issue is. You could have a throttle position sensor that is reading off causing this. On these trucks another sensor on the truck would go bad and the end result would be throwing off the throttle position sesnor. that sensor is in the gas tank. it is a tank vapor sensor. like I said if you had a scan tool you could see right away if any of the sensors were reading off cauising this. Good luck :}
