Pontiac Repair: 91 Grand Am missing on 1&4, crankshaft position sensor, crank sensor

Question
2.3 L DOHC.  I have replaced the ICM and the PCM, both coils are good.  All 4 fuel injectors are working and I have replaced the Coil housing.  I am getting ready to replace the knock sensor and the Crankshaft position sensor.  Compression is good.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hi John:

My first guess would have been the coil housing was bad. But if that didn't do it then either the coil is bad for that cylinder or the ignition control module which you said you changed also. Try this swap the coils in the housing and see if the engine is misfiring on 2,3 then. If so the problem is with the coil. It may test okay for resistance but under a load it may be breaking down. The crank sesnor is not going to be the problem with this is it has spark on on coil the crank sensor is good.
