Pontiac Repair: Drivers Side Power Window, window regulator Firebird

I have a 2001 Pontiac Firebird and and window will not roll up anymore. Well actually it's more like it comes and goes and only rolls up to a certain point. I know i need to replace the motor but when i replace the motor do i also need to or have to replace the regulator as well??  Or could that just be a regulator problem?

Well with out seeing it it's hard to say for sure if it's the motor or the regulator. The motor could be going bad and doesn't have enough power to roll the window back up or the circuit breaker in the motor keeps cutting out when the window is rolling back up due to the regulator binding up. I'm pretty sure you can get either part aftermarket from the bigger car parts stores like NAPA or carquest. From the delaer the part is service as a complet assembly or at least that the way it used to be. I haven't changed on in a while but the last time I needed one the motor came on the new regulator.
