Pontiac Repair: 1998 Pontiac Grand Am GT (Keyless failure), keyless remotes, pontiac grand am

Both of the keyless remotes stopped working.  At first, they would sometimes work, but now they have not worked for a few days.  What could be the problem? Thanks.

Will if both of then quit working and the power door locks still work from inside the car and the trunk release wors as well. My guess would be the keyless entry module (receiver) has gone bad. It's odd that they both quit working at the same time and a clue that the issue is more than likely with the car and not either of the remotes. I assume that the batteries are good in the remotes? If they are the original ones they are 10 years old now.
