Pontiac Repair: ac compressor Pontiac Sunfire 2004, pontiac sunfire, 2 nuts

Question
I was wondering how to know if my 2004 pontiac sunfire had a bolt or stud attachment to the ac line for the ac compressor.  I am needing to replace my ac compressor and looking for parts I was asked which one and I was wondering.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Heather:

You just swap that stud from the old one to the new one. use 2 nuts on the stud. tighten them down tight one each other and then the bottom bolt that closes to where the stuf goes into the compressor turn that nut out and the whole stud will back out of the compressor. it's called usiong a back up nut to remove the stud. there are special tools to do this but an extra nut is cheap and it's easy. Oh P.S. new compressors come without any oil in them so make sure you drain the old one out and measure the amount of oil in it and add that same amount of new fresh oil into the new compressor.
