Pontiac Repair: electrical, battery cables, underbody lights

Question
i have a 1997 pontiac grand am gt with a v6 and it had underbody lights when i bought it and still does,my ac lights went out and the underbody lights turned on once and never again, all other lights work, when i honk the horn my headlights go dimmer, any suggestions would be appreciative

Answer
Hi Mark:

well first off it's take off theose under body lamps. If you have issues where lamps dim when there is an extra load put on the electrical system I's start looking at the battery and it's connections. look at the ground wires on the body near the battery. look at the battery cables and see is they are loose or corroded. if the back lights when out on the a/c and other things chnaces are that those under body lamps may have shorted out and blew the fuse for the interior dimming or parking lamps. Good luck :)
