after replaceing the head gasket on my 1996 pontiac trans sport sounds like it have low compression the motor turns fast and want crank do the valves need to be adjusted and how

sounds to me like when you put this back together you may have mixed up the push rods for the valves. there are 2 different size push rods. The longer ones go on the exhaust valves and the shorter ones are for the intake. That is more than likely what happened. Hopefully you didn't bend any valve if you have the rod in the wrong spots and cranked the engine over.. to answer the other part of the question No the valves do not need to be adjusted the lifters are self adjusting.
