Pontiac Repair: 1997 Bonneville A/C, bonneville ssei, inner fender

Question
I have a 1997 Bonneville SSEi with a 3.8 Supercharged engine. How do I change out the A/C Compressor?

Answer
Hey Ed:

first off if the system is still full with a charge of refergerant it neeeds to be drained. This should be done mt a professinal with the proper equipment don't just let the chage out in to the air! disconnect the battery. next remove the belt and the electrical connector. remove the line tubes off the back of the unit and what ever bolts are on the back of the unit to the bracket on the engine. next remove the inner fender well on the right side and remove the bolts on the front of the compressor that hold it to the engine block and bracket. remove the compressor out through the right side whell well. Drain and record the amount of oil in the old compressor and add that same amount of fresh oil into the new compressor and I always add an extra ounce. reverse the removal procedure to install the new one.
Good luck :)
