Pontiac Repair: 97 grand prix will not come out of park, heated seat, wiggle

I took the top of the shifter apart where do I start looking for a broken wirer there is a black connecter with a blue and black wirer not connected to any thing the plug is connected at the bottom of the shifter everything is still wrapped in tape what wirer color do i look for

Ther is one wire connetor attached to the bottom of the shifter. take a look at that connctor. I think it has either 4 or 6 wires in the connector. wiggle the wires to see if any of them are broken off inside the connector. perticulary pink or purple wires. Any connector that is not connected to anything in the center console is more than likely for options that the car didn't have like a heated seat etc. don't worry about them just the one attached to the base of the shifter.
