Pontiac Repair: 1996 GRAND AM SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE PROBLEMS, gauge speedometer, gas gauge

Question
MOST OF THE GAUGES ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE NOT WORKING LIKE THE FUEL GAUGE, SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, TEMP GAUGE. OCCASIONALLY DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF SUCH AS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, ABS, ADD OIL.  IF IT IS THE CLUSTER THING YOU TOLD OTHERS ABOUT, GIVE A PRICE RANGE ON WHAT I SHOULD EXPECT TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED OR IF IT IS EASY ENOUGH TO DO MYSELF AND WHERE IT IS LOCATED.  ALSO WHAT SIZE PINS DO THE BRAKES ON THIS CAR USE. MUST THE ODOMETER WORK FOR STATE INSPECTION PURPOSES IN PA?  ALSO THE ONE WINDOW ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WON'T WORK RIGHT. I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP, I JUST GOT THE CAR RECENTLY.  IT IS A 1996  4 DOOR GRAND AM WITH A 2.4L ENGINE

Answer
Hi Thomas:
Lets see let me try to answer all your questions. The odometer doen't have to be working for a state inspection as long as it diplays the mileage that is good enough. As for the guages acting up it can be a communication issue between the engine computer and the dash cluster. It can be the dash cluster it's self being bad. It can be a bad ignition sitch not powering up the cluster poperly. If it's a dash cluster they are about $250.00 for a remanufactured unit + labor. As for the barke hold down pins I don't have a clue! any parts store shoulf have a listing for that car they will come in a kit will al the springs and retainers.
