Pontiac Repair: 2002 Bonneville heated seats, seat fabric, heater element

Question
The driver side seat heater in my 2002 Bonneville did not want to stay on. If you turned it on it stayed on for only a second. The passenger side worked fine. Well I decided to trade the seat heater module located under the seat from side to side to see what happened. Well first I removed the module from the drivers side and placed it on the passengers side. The problem followed the module to the passengers side. So I took the module removed from the passengers side and placed on the drivers side thinking it would work correctly. WRONG! Now both sides turn off right away! Is something in the seat destroying these modules? Did swapping them cause the good module to quit working? I'm reluctant to purchase replacement modules without finding out why they quit. Any ideas? Regards, COLD IN THE SEAT!

Answer
Hi Keith:
Swapping the modules should not have damaged them. So I'm stumped there. The heater element in the seat is bad and that's wht it turns on then off right a way. Pretty common. The element is under the seat fabric. The fabric has to be removed and the new elements are stuck to the seat faon and the fabric is put back on top of the elements.

Good luck :)
