Question
hey there, i just bought a 2000 bonnie sle 3800. computer keeps saying service security system and car will occasionally not start. also both rear windows will not go up or down. theres only 44000 miles on it so i hope its nothing too major. any help would be appreciated

Answer
Hey Ron:

Well first off the windows do you hear the motors running when you use the switches? If so the regulators broke in the dorrs and it will need new ones. If not then you will have to take off the window switches and back probe the switches and see if you have power and ground going to the motors with the switch in either direction.

As for the security lamp on.. The most likely cause is the theft deterant module on the lock cylinder for the ignition. That was pretty commmon for them to go bad back in the day. That is a part that you can't do your self. The part has to  be programmed to match the key and the car at either a dealer or a certified AC delco repair shop.  I would first have the car scanned for codes to verify the cause of the lamp/no start but I think you'll find it's the module is bad. One last though when this happens have you tried the other key? if if starts with the other key The issue is the transponder inside the key could be bad.
