Pontiac Repair: re start, lmap, factory security

Question
i have a 2001 pontiac montiana van wont start
turn key wont start
cross the starter still wont start will crank

Answer
Hey Larry:

does this car have a security lamp on when your trying to start it? Or is the lmap flashing? It may have a factory security system failure. if not then you have some sort of a root cause to the no crank and no start. if you have the key in the run position and jump that starter motor you will need to see if you have spark and fuel pressure see which one or both you are missing.. If you are missing both I would look for a power distribution problem possably a bad connection at the battery or a bad ignition switch. If it's just missing fuel pressure I'd look at the fuse for the engine control computer. Good luck :)
