Pontiac Repair: 2000 Pontiac Montana front turn signal problem, drl module, pontiac montana

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2000 Pontiac Montana with the following problem.  The right (p/s) front turn signal does not flash.  There is a front/front and a side/front signal.  The side front flashes, the front/front does not.  When the directional is turned on it flashes fast, like a bad bulb, bulb was replaced not the problem.  I used a test light and found that i have power at the inoperative front/front turn signal, it flashes fast, both at the wire and inside the connector.  Like I said before it is like a bad bulb but there is no bad bulb and there seems to be no problem with the rear turn signals and brake lights like I noticed in other questions.  I am a bit stumped on this one.  Also, the daytime running lamp (same bulb) does not illuminate unless the regular lights are on.  Perhaps a problem with the drl module?  or some kind of grounding problem????  although when I tested it there seemed to be no problem.

ANSWER: Hey Mike:

I think your on the right path. IS the DRL lamps inop on both sides of the van? I assume the left side turn siganl works fine? and the rear lamps all work park and turn... If all of those are working. then I would suspect the drl module being the problem. the turn signal signal fro  the switch and flasher does go through the drl module.You could have a wiring issue "bad connecton" between the turn siganl switch and the module or from the module to the lamp. It's hard to say but the fact that neither of those lamps work right I would lean more towards the module. I remember changing a few of thme back in the day. if you need to know what wires to check for that let me know if you want to dig into it further. I can't send you the diagram but I can tell you what to look for. good luck :)

QUESTION: I would love to know which wires to check.  I basically refuse to bring it to a dealer and get ripped off when I can do the work myself.

Answer
Okay first off the drl module is loacted to the right of the steering column it is a black plastic box I belive. it has 2 connectors going into it. in connector #1 are the inputs for the right and left turn signals the right input is a dark blue with a white tracer and the left is light blue with a white tracer.They are in pins G and E. the connector is marked. turn the key on and thr turn signal on right hand turn leve the module plugged in and back probe the wire with a test light and the other side of the test light hooked up to a GOOD GROUND. for the side that's not working. It should be flashing withe turn signals on. now for the output the right side is Dark blue and the left is light blue. Pins B and C. the light should be flashing on the side going out to the bulb if you have a flashing light going in but not out it's the module. That is if the other side is working correctly. If that side either the drl is not working or the turn signal then you have to check for power and ground going into the module as well as the ambinet light input and headlamp inputs.. What I just gave you shouold fix it up for you... I work at a dealer and I'm not in business to rip off people. . . :}
