Pontiac Repair: 1994 front seat removal, seat removal, heavy gauge

Question
Hey, Todd.

I need to remove my mother-in-law's front passenger seat on a 1994 Grand Am. It is stuck all the way up in the forward position. It is a manual seat. Where do I start? Is it a pain?

Thanks for your help.
Mark

Answer
Hi Mark:

You may not need ot remove the seat. what may have happened is there is a link that goes in between both sides of the seat tracks. It's a wire "heavy gauge stiff wire" that goes between both seat tracks. the wire may have come off one of the seat tracks. what happens when the lever is lifted it releases the one side of the track. and the wire is connected betwwen that side the lever is on to the other side of the seat. there is a little eyelit that the wire is attaches to it may have just been knocked off if something was stuffed under the seat. if that's not the case the youy will have to remove the seat. This is hard if the tracks are all the way over the top of the nuts that hold the seats to the floor. you can use a box wrench to take the nuts off and remove the seat to see what happened. good luck :}
