Pontiac Repair: coolant loss, coolant loss, screw driver

Question
Ok got a 92 with a quad 4 about 190k on it.  Runs remarkably well.  One thing have a problem with the coolant overflow container.  What were they thinking putting a plastic cap on it?  Not like it could get cross threaded on anything.  Other than this the car seems to run fine.  Got any suggestions??

Answer
Hi Rob:

The cap usually gets messed up more than the coolant bottle on the fender. The plastic on the cap is softer than that on the bottle so it it's cross threaded and you can get it on it needs the cap. if it's cross threaded and you can't get it off the bottle the a big pair of channel locks may be able to get it off. it that doesn't work a hack saw blade may work to cut through the cap untill you reach the threads and then use a flat bladed screw driver to try to pry the cap off and hopefully you don't damage the bottle. if you resort to cutting it off be care ful and try to stop just en you reach the threads. Good luck :}
