Pontiac Repair: 02 Grand Am Gt clicking under dash and surging, torque converter clutch, turn signal flasher

Question
I have an 02 Grand Am Gt,3400, auto, 113k miles, sedan.
While driving it will start clicking under the dash, the clicking seems to be the same noise as when the turn signal is on.
My other question is a couple years ago when I bought the car it would surge on the freeway it fluctuate between 2500 rpm and 2800rpm seemed to be only when the converter locked up. It is now really bad, it will do it when driving down a side street, but alot worse it fluctuates dramatically. Possible torque converter or solenoid??
I really appreciate you help.
Brett

Answer
Hi Brett:

the clicking noise you hear in the dash is from the 4 way/Turn signal flasher module. the turn signal switch is going bad the contacts are stuck on just enough to make the module click but not stuck on enough ot actually make the bulbs flash.

As for the surge it can be a lot of things with that may miles on it it could be just about anything. My guess it it's an engine issue and when the torque converter clutch is locked up/turned on you feel it more. I'm look mat a plugged fule filter, dirty mass air flow sensor dirty air filter dirty injectors. those are the most likley cuases. It could be a transmission issue but without the aid of a scan tool it's impossable to tell just driving it. Good luck :}
