Pontiac Repair: scraping metal, pontiac bonneville, rivots

I was driving by 1994 pontiac bonneville tonight & heard some metal scraping on the ground.  I looked under the car & it looked like a flap (large & rectangular in size) hanging down.  Help!  What is it, what do I do (besides obviously get it repaired ) & is it expensive?

where was the piece hanging down front or rear? My best guess is a heat shiled for the exhaust If that is it it's not an expensive fix juat a few screws or pop rivots to hold it back onto the body. But obviously without seeing it I can't tell you for sure. Good luck :)
