Pontiac Repair: Headlights, pontiac bonneville, floor vents

Question
I have a '96 Pontiac Bonneville SE and when I shut the car off, the outer headlights (not the orange but next ones over) stay on and drain the battery. In the manual it says they should stay on for up to 3 minutes, well, that's not happening. When I turn the dial on the left-most side of the dash to min. I hear a humming sound coming from somewhere in the driver's side dash. I mess with the switch and it will eventually turn off. My question to you is what would cause it and how can I fix it? Thank you kindly.

Answer
Hi Melissa:

It sounds to me like the lamp control module has gone bad on you car. Those were pretty common back in the day. either the module it's self would go bad or the connector going into the module would evelove a loose connection and then cause the module to go bad. The module for that is mounted gainst the fire wall below the heater box and behind the outlets for the floor vents. Hope that helps you out some Good luck :}
