Pontiac Repair: 1994 grand am heater core replacement, negative battery cable, heater core replacement

Question
Where exactly is the heater core located on a 1994 grand am. I realize that it is behind the fire wall, but can it be accessed from under the hood or does the dash have to be taken apart? Do you have a diagram by chance? How much of a hassle to replace this going to be?

Answer
Hi Keith:

Take a look bad through my past answers. In the first few pages I gave a guy complete instructions on how to replace it. It's pretty in depth. The core is inside the car and it comes out from the bottom of the dash board. The older ones like yours is a bit easier tha n those from say '96 and up. If you like working on your back and don't mind being that way for a few hours you can do the job your self. I don't have access to service information back past 1998 on the net that I can copy and paste the instruction to you for the job. The newer ones are a bit different. but here is the proceedure for a '98.
