Pontiac Repair: Rear Windshield Replacement, buick park ave, rear windshield

Question
Hello,
I have an old 85 Buick Park Ave.
The neighbor kids accidentally shot the rear windshield with a bee bee gun and now I have to replace it.
I found one for sale for $20.00.
The problem is I will have to remove it from the other car and install it in my car.
My question is "Can you please tell me how to do this without breaking it?"
Thank you very much for your help.
Kathy

Answer
Hey  Kathy:
You need special tools to remove the trim around the glass first off then a special tool to cut the seal between the glass and the body of the car. This is a job for a professinal. Ther are tons and tons of glass places if you look in a phone book. most of them have mobil service and will do it right in your driveway. Ay my dealership and most delaerships they do not touch any of the stationary glass Eg: windshild or rear windows. It's cheaper that way and they know what they are doing. There is a special uritahne sealant that they use to secure it into the body. so let your fingers do the walking and call around You may be able to find someone to do it for under $100.00 if you already have the replacemnet glass on hand.
