Pontiac Repair: 1996 harmonic balancer, crank shaft, pontiac bonneville

I've been trying to remove the harmonic balancer to get to the  crank position sensor on my 1996 pontiac Bonneville. The center bolt is off and the service manual says it should come right off with no puller. How do I get this balancer off?

Hi Terence:

Nope you need a special puller to get the balancer off. Ther are slots in the face of the balancer and ther are bolts that go through those holes and grab the back of the balancer to pull it off. The balancer is pressed onto the crank shaft and the bold just keeps it from backing off the crank. Good luck :}
