Pontiac Repair: Loses fuel pressure after sitting, hose clamps, dampner

Question
94 Lumina w/ 3.1, replaced fuel pressure block and fuel pump (along w/ filter), still bleeds off. Is it possible to add a check valve in the fuel line? Could it be something else leaking Injectors seem o.k. as no fuel is in the oil pan. Thank you in advance, Rick

Answer
Hey Rick:

The fule pressure will evnetually bleed off. If say in an hour you loose all the pressure that's not good. If you loose it over a long period of time that is normal. If if bleeds off fast try this leave a gauge on the fuel rail. Us a pair of needle nose vise grips an pinch off the rubber lines where they go inot the rail.  if the lines are plastic DO NOT pinch them. if the pressure hold your not loosing it past the injectors. then just leave one on the pressure hose and see if it blleds off. If so then the regulator is leaking. If not then just pinch off the return line if it blleds off the pump is leaking the pressure back into the tank. There is a check valve in the pump that could be leaking. Also in some of those cars it depends on the year there is what is called a fuel pulsator it's a noise dampner that connects the pump to the fule line in the tank those leak pressure. some of them just have a piece of rubber hose to connect the 2 together. I have seen the hose clamps come loose or fall off causing a leak. Hope that helps. Good luck :}
