Pontiac Repair: key broke in the ignition of a 97 grand am, lock smith, hot wire

how do i take the tumblers out or even hot wire it to get it to a mechanic please help

Hey Keith:

If the key is totally broken off in the cylinder and if you sitck the broken part in and it will not turn your stuck! If the cylinder was binding in the first place and that's why it broke off your really stuck. You can't hot wire these cars due to the factory anti-theft system. It's a job for a lock smith or the dealer. You if your can't get the cylinder to turn it makes it even more difficult to get it out of the column. Hope that helps some. Good luck :}
