Pontiac Repair: ignition fault blows fuse, car parts stores, mitchell manuals

Question
my sons 93 firebird, v-6 blows the 10 amp ignition fuse under the hood every time you turn on the ignition (just urn the key on, blows before starter engaged).  where should i start troubleshooting?  also any ideas on where i might obtain a wiring diagram for the ignition circuit? THANKS

Answer
Hi fred:

I can't gte any wire diagrams back that far out on line manuals only go back to '98.Mitchell manuals are btter than Chilton manuals they are both sold at car parts stores. The ignition fuse more than likely feeds the solenoids in the engine and the coil. try unplugging all the slenoids usually the ignition power feeds on those cars were either pink or pink with a black tracer for and ignition feed unplug all the connectors with that color wire and if the fuse still blows then you have a shorted wire the you will have to trace the wire. good luck Shorts are hard to find be patient. Good luck :}
