Pontiac Repair: 2004 brake line repair, napa store, auto parts store

Question
I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am V6 3800 and I am replacing the brake line in the front. I know it is a metal piece and the mechanic told me to get around a 60" rod, but the auto parts store keeps telling me I need the diameter. I dont know the diameter. Can you help me?

Answer
Hi Sarah:

it depends on which line it is. some carse have 2 different size lines on the same car. it's usually 7/32" but each car is differnt and you need to know what ends to but also . they all have ISO flair lines not which it the type of machine formed end on the line and either standard or meric thread as well. It gets confusing I know but if you got to a GOOD parts store they should be able to help you try a NAPA store or Carquest. good luck :}
