Pontiac Repair: fan blower, blower works, gm dealer

Question
Todd, I have a 2000 Grand Prix SE.  The fan blower works, but only when the control is turned up to #5.  No air comes out when its set on 1, 2, 3 or 4.  Is this a difficult fix?

Answer
Hi Brian:

No this is a easy and pretty cheap fix. The blower motor resisitor is burnt out. The part is less than $50.00 and you can cahnge it in about 20 minutes. It's under the dash on the right side right next to the blower motor. It happens all the time. Get a GM part instead of an aftermarket one from the car parts store. Any Gm dealer will have this part in stock. The part has been redesigned and it will look different than the one you take out but they do not go bad again with the new part design. Good luck :}
