Pontiac Repair: fuel odor, pontiac bonneville, rust belt

Question
I have a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8L v-6 w/ 165K miles. When the weather turns cold there is a strong smell of raw fuel in and around the vehicle. Never a problem when the weather and/or engine is warm. I have changed the fuel filter and checked the evap canister ~ no noticeable leaks under the car or hood. No codes stored, either. Suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hey Jeff:

well if you live in the rust belt like I do the fuel lines rot out on these cars as well as the gas tank. The lines rot out in the right rear corner of the car usually. if it's up by the engine you smell it it could be an injector seal leaking or a fule pressure regulator. those are the most common thing I have seen. good luck :}
