Pontiac Repair: fuses, fuse block, collision work

Question
I have a '93 Sunbird LE 3.1L, when ever I use the hazzards on my car it blows the fuse for my break lights, and signal lights. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Answer
Hi Chantelle:

doe the fuse blow when you step on the brake pedal? how about when you use the turn signals? Are you using the correct size fuse? if it's undersized it will blow. the spot on the fuse block says what amperage it should be. DO NOT USE a larger fuse! if it only blows with the 4 way falshers on it's a bit odd but there has to be a pinched wire somewhere or possibly the hazzard flasher it's self has gone bad and it's shorting out. The flasher is mounted to the metal on the dash board under the steering wheel. It's a round metal unit about the size of a silver dollar if that is shorted out to the metal piece inside and then to the dash that would blow a fues but it's a real long shot! I'm thinking that you have a pinched wire or pinched harness some where. has any collision work been bone on this car or hase any exterior light bulb been replaced if you answered  yes to any of those questions look there first. good luck :}
