Pontiac Repair: 1999V6 Firebird, internal circuit breakers, head lamps

Question
QUESTION:
Recently every time I start the car, and set or disarm the alarm, the headlights assemblies come up and go down.  No lights come on.  The headlight motors also continue to run a coulpe of seconds after the assemblies reset?  Help.

ANSWER: Hi David.

This car has just a factory alarm not any aftermarket one? when you turn the head lamps on and off manully do they continue to run and ratchet also or is it only with the key fob? if they do it both ways then you have 2 Bad motors for the doors. In rare instances I have seen the motors casue the relay control module go bad as well. This is a pretty expensive repair. The module is expensive as well as the actuator motors. good luck :}

QUESTION: After market FOB.  When turned on and off manually motors run and ratchet when they go back down.  THANK YOU for your expertise and time!

Answer
you have 2 issues here. you do need both motors and like i stated before that the control module may damaged as well. if the motor keep ratching the internal circuit breakers are not cutting out and that's why the keep making noise. secondly if this has an aftermarket keyles system or alarm disconnect it form the car or at the very least see where it's tied into the headlam/parking lights and cut that wire off for the aftermarket module. if you still have issue you will more than likely need a new motor control module.
