I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix, and the driver side door will not open even though the lock indicator says the door is unlocked. What's wrong/can be fixed?

does it not open from inside and outside the car? If that is the case the door lock "latch" assemby has either broken or is seized up. Was it working had before it all together would not open? If so My guess is that it seized/froze up. If it just stopped out of the blue then I would say that it broke the lever on the latch broke off either way the inside door trim has to come off in order to see what happened. This is hard with the door closed and you will more than likely damage the door panel trying to get it off but you have to do something to get it fixed getting in and out on the passenger side is a drag. good luck :)
