Pontiac Repair: wiper position, pontiac montana, gm dealership

Question
I have a 2003 pontiac montana and the wipers have changed their home position.they now go to an upright horizontal when i shut them off.when this first started i could once in a while get them to go back to original state but now they always go to wrong position..any suggestions??  i tried tapping the motor but nothing happened.

Answer
Hi Vernon:
this is a common issue with these vans. either the foot broke off the bootom of the park arm on the wiper motr or the stop that the arm rides on is bent. This happens most times when the wipers are turned on when the blades are frozen to the window or when people tunr on the wipers with out brushing the snow off the windshield. the park arm is attached to the motor by 1 bold and a strap that holds that arm to the wiper transmission. You can get it it any gm dealership that handels thses vans chevy, pontiac ones would have it in stock I would bet. It's a dealer only part. when you get it there is a porcedure you need to follow to make sure that it's times poperly. ask the parts guy to print out a copy of the procedure off the service information web site. If you get a good parts guy he'll be able to help you out. If not e-mail me back and I find it for you. Good luck :)
