Pontiac Repair: 2001 pontiac grand prix 3800 engine, pontiac grand prix, 3800 engine

my brother was on his way to see mom in the hospital today and his temp light
came on but the car did not overheat or get hot acording to gauge and he
started losing power so he had to turn around.  he said his antifreeze was pretty
good and that there was nothing like water in oil. would you have any ideas what
what this could be. thanks

I would recommend taking it and having the cooling system checked for leaks. These engines can leak internally from the plenum area.
Have the fan circuit checked for proper operation.
This is my best advice as there are too many things it could be.
