Question
QUESTION: hey,my 94 sunbird dies when im at a stop light or sign,somtimes it bogs and almosts dies then other times it will stall, but it will start again. i have no idea what it would be,it would be much appreciated if you would have an idea of what it could be,

thanks!!!

ANSWER: Hey Dan:

Well it could be a bunch of thins. I take it this has a 3 speed transmission?? if when it stalls slowing down it acts like a manaul transmission car that you forgot to puch on the clutch at a stop then you have a TCC issue whick is a torque converter clutch that is sticking on. If it just dies it could be a bunch of things. If it hunts for an idle then it dies it could have a dirty throttle plate or a dirty idle air control valve. If this is a V6 engine and the battery recently died or you replaced the battery the computer fogot the idle control valve position. These are just a few of theobvious issues. good luck :}

QUESTION: im wondering if it could be my fuel filter,or plug wires,it does search for an idol .somtimes it will almost die then go back to a normal idol.

Answer
It's not a bad Idea to change it if it hasn't been for a while or even the original. But if it hunts for an idel then dies or picks back up it could still be the throttle plate or the idle control valve or even an PCV hose on some of those older ones the hose draps over the top of the cam cover on the 4 cylinder that hose could be leaking causing the issue but it would idle faster than normal with that.
