Pontiac Repair: 93 Pontiac Grand Am heater blows cold, pontiac grand am, heater core

Question
I have a 93 Pontiac Grand Am that I had the theromostat replaced in February 07. It went out a month later and started blowing cold air again. I just had it replaced again and it is still blowing cold air. It is winter now and I really need my heater to work. I would like to know if there is anything else it could be. The person that fixed my car said that he thinks the temp. control knob isn't working properly but he's not sure. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Jennifer:

Yes it's possible if this car has and heater core replacment or evapoorator core replacemnet where someone would have been in the heater box then the "temp" door may be bound up inside the box. With out seeing it it's hard to say it could be the door or the cable came off or maybe the know just stripped off the control head If when you turn the know it feels loose or has no resistance then it woul go the route of the head or cable. You could also have an issue wheren you have a bad heater core when the engine is hot and up to temp one of the hoses to the core should be really hot and the other a bit cooler if not you have a coolant flow issue into that core weather ity's bound up with air or plugged I don't know. Just a few ideas. good luck :)
