Pontiac Repair: 2003 Grand Am Brake Problems, brake light switch, brake bleeder

Question
I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am (2.? L) that is having serious front brake issues. The brake pads had been wearing down very quickly (about 2000 miles), and we had also noticed a "burning" smell coming from the front brakes. We replaced almost the entire braking system, (Master Cyl., Calipers, Roters, Pads, etc. The only things we didnt replace were the lines and the booster). And noticed that the roters were getting extremely hot. After about 200 miles, the burning smell has returned. Do you have any idea what may be causing the roters (and pads) to be getting so hot and creating a burning smell?

Answer
Hey derek it could be a lot of things. Start at the beginning what started this chain of events? that is what I would look at first. If it was aftyer master cylinder replacment I would look long and hard at that first. with the car's front wheels off the ground and properly supported mash on the brake pedal and the go out and try to turn the front rotors It they will not turn your getting close. then open a brake bleeder and see in the fluid "squirts: of of the blleder screw use an open end wrench that way you can see it. it should "dribble out" if it's under pressure then something is wrong with the master cylinder or tyhe push rod from the pedal to the booster and thru the booster to the master cylinder. also try this reach in and agressivly pull up on the brake pedal the brake light switch may be keeping the the brakes applied. How about the rear brake shoes are they adjusted up ? these are just a few quick checks for you to try out.  Are the parts you changed on this "quaility" parts or cheapo parts? that should be looked at as well. Good luck :)
