Pontiac Repair: lifters, low oil pressure, granam

i don't know if you can help but i need to know if the lifters on a 94 granam quad 4 are adjustable the ticking is getting worse and i would like to know if they can be adjusted instead of replaced. I would greatly appriciatte your help

Hey Michael:

No they are not adjustable if they are noisey they need replacing but you may have other issues like low oil pressure causing the noise. Are you sure it's lifters? the timing chain on these engines get extremly noisey as well and because it drives the cams it can be mistaken for a lifter noise or the noise from the lifters clattering can also cover up the chain noise. First and formost check the oild pressure when the engine is hot with a mechanical gauge don't go by the one on the dash if equipped.  Good luck :)
