Pontiac Repair: Keyless entry, pontiac grand prix, reciver

1998 Pontiac Grand Prix, two door, auto trans, V6.  Keyless entry will not work!  Sisters car will try to fix over thanksgiving.  She says that she has replaced battery in remote. What do i look at and or for next.  If i need to check voltage a schematic or a way to get a schematic would be great.

Hey Matt:

Well it's one of 2 things either a bad transmitter or a bad receiver. after replacing the battery you have to "sync" it to the car. do both transmitters not work? If so it's more than likely a receiver issue. if it's just the one that's in op it's more than likely a bad transmitter. look in the owners manual it has the procedure to sync the transmitter to the car and laso the procedure to learn new transmitters to the car. if that doesn't work Again it's more than likely the reciver which on that car is in the dash assembly behind the driver information center.
