Pontiac Repair: abs and tcs off lights on, brake master cylinder, modual

Question
I have a 98 grand prix gtp. The abs light and tcs off lights are on.A scan says c 0550 ebcm internal failer. This is the Bosh 5.3 system.Where is the ebcm located and can I install a used one?Does a used one need to be reprogramed or can it be?I found a modual to the left of the steering collum with a code of 104 197 85 on it, is this the ebcm. Thanks

Answer
Hey Darwin:

The EBCM is mounted to the brake pressure modulator valve assembly it has 4 screws attaching the module to the valve it is mounted to the inside of the left strut tower just in front of the brake master cylinder. And yes you can use a used unit but it has to be from the same year and gtp model you have so good luck finding one that's an exact match. No it does not have to be programmed it's a :plug and play" type module no set up is needed. This is a pretty easy fix the real trouble is going to find a used one. new ones are a tall $$$. Good luck :)
