Pontiac Repair: Instruments, A/C, and heat, dash lights, window defroster

Hello,
My instruments will occasionally stop working, along with my A/C or heater and rear window defroster. Radio and dash lights keep working. Problem will sometimes solve itself and the instruments start up as they do when I first start car. Sometimes a good whack on the dashboard gets the problem solved buts it's getting worse. Loose wiring?
I drive a 1999 Grand AM 4 cylinder

Your more than likely correct that there is a bad connection some were. You owuld have to get a repair manualr to see what the things that stop working have in common either a fuse or the same ground. It's really hard to say. I have seen on some of these cars when they get some higher milage on them the contct in the ignition switch go bad and cause a multitude of issues. That would be another thing to look into. good luck :)
