Pontiac Repair: possible motor lock, pontiac firebird, oil leak

 when i got in my 1997 pontiac firebird. the check gages light came on . the oil hand was low. it was hard to turn bsck in my drive way . it still runs , but it also leaks oil . does that mean the engine locked up because it was hard to steer ? please help . i just bought this car .

First off what gauage was low to turn on the light? if it runs it's not locked up at least not yet. Don't run it if it's low on oil. You have to try to find where the oil leak is comming from. The oil leak may be from the power sterring ststem and that's why it's hard to steer. However the sterring will not turn on a light on the dash. Hope that helps.
