Pontiac Repair: 2004 PONTIAC GRAND AM, fog light, pontiac grand am

Question
QUESTION: This has happened 4 times within 2 mos. i put the key in and turn it and nothing happens, no clicking just nothing - the 1st mechanic said it was just the fuse and he has fixed and car started ok for a month then same problem occured -  another mechanic said it was just the battery - they installed new battery and a week later same problem - the next mechanic took the car apart even and said cant locate the problem - the 4th mechanic said by the time the car was towed there the car started and they can't do anything if the car is working - they said it could be the anti-theft and some said said it could be the key - but no body seems to really know - please tell me what to do..

ANSWER: Hey Nenita:

It's more tan likely the any theft system from the factory. When it will not start does the security lamp come on on the dash and either flash or stay on stead when you try to start it? If yes then more than likely it needs the ignition lock cylinder housing. This is a dealer only part and it should be doen at a dealer they have to code the cylinder to you key and then relearn the theft system. I would say that's your issue. Good luck :)

QUESTION: i had mentioned this to them, when the 1st time it broke down the security light did come (flashing) per handbook, park car for 5 min and then restart (which i did) and security light went off - a week after the key thing started - as of 10/16 i had put on the fog light and 2 days later the secukrity light came on - so no i  stop using the fog light and cruise control  - i am trying everything i can so the car does not mess up...

Answer
The fog light likely have nothing to do with the no start and security lamp comming on. The sensor in that igniton lock cyclinder housing is going bad. I would get it fixed before you get stuck. Murphys law you'll be in a hurry to get somehere and the that's when the car will not start :(
