Question
i have a 99 grand am Se 3.4L V6, When i turn the key in the ignition from on while the car has been taken outa the park gear. when i put the shifter back into the park gear. the key will only go to acc. and then wont go any further. if i nudge the shifter in the car to the left then the key will slide into gear perfectly... any ideas on what that is??

Answer
Hi
It sound like you MAY have a shifter issue.
It is a somewhat common problem on some GM vehicles.
There are 2 individual switches in the shifter the BTSI (Brake Transmission shift lock solonoid) This is the switch that makes you press on brakes to release shifter.
The other is the Park Lock Solonoid. This one energizes a seperate solonoid that allows key operation.
I would advice possibally taking it and having it double checked.
I Hope this helps.
Good luck
