Pontiac Repair: 97 Pontiac Grand Am water leak from back of motor.., intake manifold gasket, upper intake manifold

Question
97 Pontiac Grand Am....  The water is leaking from out of the back of the motor, dripping at a fast rate. Where could it be coming from back there? Where is the water jack core plug?

Answer
Hey Debbie.

It could be a few things. The most common thing if it has a 3800 V6 in the upper intake manifold plenium. it's plastic and warps and it leaks more so cold.If that's what's leaking do your self a favor and replace the manifold just replacing the gasket is a temp fix and it will happend again. If it has a 3100 V6 engine it could be a lower intake manifold gasket. both engines have core plugs in the back of the engine but they rarely leak these days. the coolant is much better in cars now and you don't see it all that often. Hope that helps. Good luck :0
