Pontiac Repair: Stalling sunbird, question pool, spark tester

I have a 94 sunbird le 3.1 v6. i had to bypass my heater cuz it was leaking antifreeze all over the place. all i did was disconnect the in and the out hoses and connect them, but since i did that the car won't run. it'll start and run for a little bit, but it just sputter's to a stop. the longer i leave it for the longer she'll run for. i've been told it could either be the fuel pump or the ignition coil..i'm not sure what to think or where i should start

I just got the question today even know it shows you sent it on the 7'th. For some reason it was kicked into a question "pool" and I just stubled apont it now. Now for the answer, It could be either thing. I would check to see if you loosing fuel pressure that engine has about 40 PSI with the key on engine not running and a bit less once the engine starts. You can get a cheap spark tester at any auto parts store and check for spark on all three of the front plugs they are easier to reach. If you have in on the front three then more than likely you have it on all 6. Once you know what your lacking you will better know what way to go.. Hope that helps.
