Pontiac Repair: General questions, fuel injector cleaners, mild detergent

Question
QUESTION: Yeah it's me again already....I was wondering what are your thoughts on normal maintenance of cars in general?

Are engine flushes a good idea?  Are transmission flushes a good idea?  Are radiator flushes a good idea?

Also, what about fuel injector cleaners in the gas every 3000 miles?  Is that a good idea?

I have heard both that they are a good ideas and that its not needed and they are bad ideas....

Whats your thoughts on all those maintenance ideas....???

Thanks again Todd....

ANSWER: Okay for maintenance.
Coolant good for 100,000 unless it looks crappy or it smells really bad It should have an orange look to it.

Transmission every 30,000 change the fluid and filter

Injectors every 12,000 a power cleaning will not hurt with a mild detergent. Dump crap in the tank doesn't really help that much you nee to have it done professionally when the car actually runs off the cleaner/gasoline mix. If you use a good brand of gas you shouldn't have any problems. also the fuel filter ever 15,000 If your car has one which yours does but most of the newer cars the have done always with them and it's inside the tank with the pump.

QUESTION: But what about the pressure flushes they offer??? Im worried it could blow gaskets or something.....

Jake

Answer
No they are safe the machines have regulated pressure so they will not overpressureize a system and a head gasket wouldn't be the first thing to go if it were to be overpressureized. Those flush machines usually are done with the engine off also so you don't have to worry about cooking an engine. Now that you got you issue resolved you car was overfueling a ton invest in an oil change. I'm sure some it that made it down into the crankcase. Have a good one and thanks again for the rating!
