Pontiac Repair: 2000 Grand Am, spark plug wires, pontiac grand am

Question
QUESTION:  I have a 2000 pontiac Grand Am with 54k mi. It has a 2.4ltr DOHC. The car starts but is undrivable due to very poor idle. I checked the compression(got215psi), and have spark to all plugs. It sounds as though the timing is off but again the compression is good. While starting it also spits out the throttle body. Can you please help.

ANSWER: Hi
It sounds like the coil housing is your fault.
This is the (usually) white large plastic piece located under the engine cover plate and the spark plug "wires" attach to it.
It houses the 2 ignition coils. They are common problem makers.
It COULD be a coil problem, but more housings than coils are problems.
I hope this helps.
Good luck

QUESTION: One more thing I tried was unplugging the fuel injectors one at a time while the car was running. The car stalled after unplugging number 2 and 4 cylinder. 1 and 3 I heard no difference. The engine ran very rough. Could it be clogged injectors or should i just try changing the coil housing? The car also has no codes. Thank you for all your help.

Answer
Hi
I would try the housing first, it is the least expensive.
You could also have the injectors cleaned.
Check the coil while changing the housing. If you have access to an ohm meter they should ohm to 5-7k ohms across the coil.
I Hope this helps.
Good Luck
