Pontiac Repair: Tune up, ground electrodes, pontiac grand prix

Question
I've been trying to perform a tune up on my 99 pontiac grand prix (3.8L non supercharged).  The wires are absolutely stuck to the spark plugs, the fronts took a lot of effort but were manageable.  However, the rear plugs are proving impossible to remove the wires.  I've unbolted the motor and rotated it forward to get a little more room, but other than that how do I get these wires off?  Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Answer
Hey Brooks.
There is no easy way. I assume you are replacing the plugs and the wires both? if you are doing both just pull off the metal heat shields and use a razor blade to cut the boot off and then use a pair of pliers to pull the wire end off the tops of the plugs. There is a special tool that is supposed to grab onto the boot and pull it off the plug but most times it rips the boot so the wires has to be replaced anyway. That engine has 100,000 mile plugs so if it has less than that you are wasting your time and energy replacing them . They really do last that long. The original plugs are either platinum or iridium tipped. replace them with original equipment plugs. do not waste your $ on magic v plugs or ones that have multiple ground electrodes. when you replace the wires buy a good set not a $20.00 set from auto zone or O'rieles or anyplace like that. either original equipment wires or ones from a good supplier EG; NAPA Carquest. also but some dielectric grease and put a dab of it in each boot before you push it onto the plugs it will stop the rubber from fusing it's self to the ceramic which is what your main problem is. Hope that helped! P.S. don't forget the fuel filter that is the most over looked tune up part. Every 15,000 miles your fuel pump will love you for it. !!!
