Pontiac Repair: Brakes, wheel cylinder, brake pads

Question
QUESTION: If all you do is replace front brake pads, is it necessary to bleed brakes?  What is proper procedure to bleed brakes on 1999 Sunfire?  It has the big 4 cyl.  Thanks

ANSWER: Hi
no if all you did was replace pads, the brakes should not need to be bled.
The proper procedure would be rigth rear first, left rear, right front, and left front lastly.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION: Are you saying, that if I did replace only the front pads and decided to bleed them, I must bleed all 4, in the proper order?  Should the car, be turned on, as in the engine running or just turn on the ignition key or everything off?  Thanks

Answer
Hi
Yes I would bleed all 4 if you decide to bleed them.
Engine off, everything off.
Again I cannot tell you what to do. If you decide to bleed just the front 2 thats YOUR decision.
Professionally, I would bleed ALL 4.
I would Never bleed just the front or rear 2.
I would bleed just one if I replaced a caliper or wheel cylinder, something that MAY introduce air into one line.
I hope this helps.
