Pontiac Repair: Wheel hub Bearings, gm service manual, pontiac bonneville

Question
I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville, V6 3800 engine with 227,000 miles.  My car wobbles between 40 and 60 mph when accelerating after being checked the diagnoses was a bad front left wheel hub bearing.  I am comfortable with some engine repair such as replacing window regulators, brake rotors and pads, plugs, wires etc but how difficult would it be to replace my front wheel hub bearings and can you give me a quick guide to that procedure? I am also wondering if I should replace both as a precaution since I bought the car new and both wheel hub bearings are original.  Thanks

Answer
Hi
Not too hard of a job, you'll just need to unbolt the axle nut you'll need either a 34mm or 36mm socket.
Here is the EXACT procedure from the GM service manual:

Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle by the frame. Allow the control arms to hang free.
Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
Clean the drive axle threads of all dirt. Lubricate the threads.
Remove the drive axle nut. Insert a drift punch or a screwdriver into the caliper and the rotor in order to prevent the rotor from turning.
Remove the brake rotor.
Disconnect the ABS front wheel speed sensor connector. Unclip the connector from the dust shield.
Remove the hub and bearing retaining bolts.
Important: Replace the hub and bearing only as an assembly.
Use the J 28733-B in order to separate the hub and bearing from the drive axle.
Clean the rust and the foreign material from the following components in order to allow proper seating of the bearing into the knuckle:
•  The knuckle mounting face
•  The bore
•  The chamber

The J 28733-B is an special tool that pushes the axle out of the hub splines.

Both. I wouldn't. Of corse I believe in "If it is not broke, don't fix it."
Final decision is yours.
Does your car make noise? IF NOT,  I would get a second opinion on hub causing a wobble.
It is possible, I just would think a hub would wobble at all times...
Just a suggestion.
I Hope this helps.
Good Luck
